This is for remote control fcc compliance if the transmitter malfunctions.

Is there a signal from the Auxiliary I/O connector on the back of the MTR that lets you disable the transmitter?

And in addition, Is there a signal from the Auxiliary I/O connector on the back of the MTR that changes when the MTR Transmitter malfunctions or locks up in transmit?

This is because as a new member, your posts need to be approved before they are seen. I removed the double post, but put your question here in quote.

As far as your question, I don't see a TX disable input on the J5 connector. There are a 'PA Fail' and 'VSWR Fail' output. You can view the pinouts here:

Note that there are lots of undefined pins labeled as GPI or GPO...those are for when a 'wildcard' is used. The functions of the pins are defined via programmed tables, and I'm sure you could implement a TX Disable function with the use of that.

It's not a function built into the station. If you use wireline, you can change to a mode (channel) that is rx only. You would need an external device to decode and act upon an OTA command.

Sorry for my ignorance here...Not sure what you mean by "change to a mode(channel) that is rx only". The MTR2000 has a wireline card installed, I dont have the documentation for it, guess I better find some. Can I assume you connect a phone line or some interface(tone decoder) the the back wireline connector to send tones to the wireline card?

Ok on page 5-15 of the MTR 2000 Product Planner, R4-2-97B, I see a wireline configuration screen within RSS software. is shows programmable TRC commands assigned to an TRC Input Port.

So supposedly you assign a port to the back wireline connector to accept a tone for the command you assign? so there is a "TX OFF" command.

What kind of external device to decode?

Is this external device a connection to the J6 backplane wireline connector?

What is an OTA command? Our Passport Network uses handheld radios, HT1250-LS+. Are you saying we could send a command using our handhelds?

Part 22, Subpart C, Section 22.325, Control Points

Each station in the Public Mobile Services must have at least one control point and a person on duty who is responsible for station operation. This section does not require that the person on duty be at the control point or continuously monitor all transmissions of the station. However, the control point must have facilities that enable the person on duty to turn off the transmitters in the event of a malfunction.

You could program the MTR with a second channel aka mode that is rx only - no tx freq programmed. Then, with a tone remote control hooked up via phone line , when you want to disable the transmitter, you change the channel to 2. To enable, you change it back to 1.

With your portables, you probably couldn't send any commands. BUT! IF you had portables or mobiles with a DTMF keypad, AND you had a DTMF decoder connected to the MTR, you could send a mode change command to change the MTR channel to 2 via the system plug by programming the wildcard settings.

Maybe I'm missing something gigantic here...but 47 CFR 22? Public Mobile vs LMRS?
