Hello everyone
First of all I am a newbie here and to UHF radios.
I just purchased a motorola UHF jt1000 from ebay and will be using it for my taxi work but I need to program the frequencies so I got to the point where is ask for a password and I have been trying to input the password which I have been reading that some people say is 581000. I am not having any luck and it does not seem to be working after I input the password I press the blue button like i read on the internet but still nothing happens it just keeps asking for the password. So my question is am I doing something wrong or did the past owners put in a new password if so am I able to reset it to default.
Thanks in advance

Definitely sounds like the previous owner changed it. In that case, you'll need the RSS and programming cable. It's real easy to find what the current password is, change it and then write back to the radio. You can make it 581000 (which spells out JT1000) or whatever else you may want. You can't however, get rid of it entirely. In that case, do what I did and make it simply '1'.

You're welcome. It can be somewhat tricky getting the software/computer setup properly as it requires pure DOS (no Windows) and a serial port (no USB) but it doesn't require a computer science degree either! Good luck.

The latest RSS for the Jedi radios, ht1000.exe, runs in DOS only on later faster computers OK. Pentium rated.

True, I've had no problem running it on a Pentium II machine running at 350 MHz. Haven't tried anything faster though.

DOS ??? WOW now I have not heard that word in a long time.
But as I was sitting and thinking how bummed out I was about the password I figured what the heck let me try enter 1 for the password and
to my surprise it worked.
Thanks again KG4INW

Awesome, glad to hear it! At least you can program the channels but if/when you want to change the button assignments you'll need the RSS.
