There is some Canadian guy on eBay selling off a small fleet of Astro Saber III 800 radios advertised as "P25", but in the description, he lists them as 512k. The flashcode he provides for all of them come back as Q806 IMBE. What gives, is this guy full of it? The radios are pretty cheap.

HOST 5.xx/DSP 6.xx supports P25 in 512K VOCONs. I've got a few myself.

Will they do P25 conventional yes. That old DSP won't sound so hot however.
What it will NOT do is rebanded trunking. As cheap as the 1 Meg radios are now the 512 rigs aren't worth much except parts.
Especially since these are 800, something to consider.

Or if you have the HHCH-capable AVA.

Most of the 512 vocoders do not support IMBE, but VSELP, which is NOT compatible with modern P25 radios.
The two modulation formats are not mutually incusive, and differ greatly enough to preclude their use in IMBE systems.
Look up the acronyms for a description of the modulation schemes.
VSELP is no longer supported, and will not operate in any current P25 system.
