Do certain secure boards in an XTS5000 restrict you from narrow band ? I think the radio has DES XL ?

you cannot use des-xl in securenet mode on non-astro channels in 12.5kHz. you will have to go astro or wide band non astro.

That's what it was looking like to me too, but I wanted to check. Thanks for the reply.

To be clear, the board isn't the restriction. You have the channel set to Securenet encryption (DES/DES-XL) and Select or Secure strapping, which requires 5KHz deviation. Set the channel to clear and it'll work fine.

Sorry to dig this up post up but im new here and this post is answering some of my questions. I want to confirm that our Astro Saber radios with DES will work on Astro Programmed channels. I see this being important when programming every thing. So i think I should figure out how to enable and set Astro Mode on all the 12.5k channels that need DES to be operational. So far it looks like the radios go into Astro Mode when you select channel bank B. I have access to the old computer that can program these radios, i just don't know enough yet to mess with it.
thanks every one!
