Hi,
I recently purchased a motorola xts 3000 model II uhf portable radio. I have programmed the radio using the CPS software. i am using this radio for conventional UHF P-25 frequencies. I also programmed scan list into the radio that i will scan the digital frequencies. However i seem to be missing something. I have my channels in place and have the radio on scan mode. I can hear conventional uhf frequencies with no problem but am unable to scan the p-25 frequencies even though there added into the scan list. When i press the monitor button on the side of the radio i can hear the channel. When the radio is not in scan mode i hear the p-25 digital channels with no problem. I see that the radio has mulitple modes of squelch control and so far i have tried the digital squelch and the normal squelch for this channel. I cannot seem to figure out why it wont recieve when its in scan mode and if it does it cuts half the message. Is there something i am programming wrong in the Radio? Please help?
Thanks,
Cody

Are you using conventional scan, or voting scan mode?
Also, P-25 scanning requires a NAC that agrees with the channel/frequencies being scanned, if there is no NAC(Network Access Control), the channels will be ignored and not open.
Check to be sure you have programmed proper NACs into every digital channel, and that they agree with those channels.
Simply using the standard 293 NAC, will gain you nothing, unless the channel is using that NAC.

You probably should have the radio sys admin program this radio. If you program it wrong, it could mess up a radio system. Be safe and just get a scanner..

Radioeng.. What part of CONVENTIONAL p25 would need a system admin to program a radio? All P25 systems aren't trunked.

It's a conventional system so tell me what he will interfere with?
There is nothing wrong with using an xts as a scanner, either conventional scan or trunking scan if set correctly nobody will ever detect your radio.
In your CPS conventional personality screen under astro what is your rx unmute rule set for?
If it's set to digital then the receiver should unmute to any proper digital transmission.
Be advised that NAC F7E does not function on the xts3000
Also what is your conventional personalities RX unmute/mute type set for?
Also make sure you don't have any items checked for astro talkgroup options as you may not have any use for this menu.
Under received options set the rx unmute delay( ms) to 1, 0 ms.
Also check your squelch fine tune and initially try a low value around 3.
In astro systems, under your default astro system make sure radio inhibit radio check and Cai registration are unchecked, these may not effect your issue but I'm just going by an old conventional scan codeplug that I know worked for me.
In the scan list general tab make sure conventional is selected, I don't t think you have any other choice without getting an error but still something to check.
Under scan configuration, conventional make sure that you Don' t have anything checked, again just going by my,. Cpg file as it's s been years since I programmed a 3000 in any band.
Sorry abt the message crappy formatting as this was sent from a sh177y mini android POS tablet that rivals a dell PC in being just as useless.
edited to fix my Friggin POS android tablets auto word formatting, I think I hate a rooted android as much as a dell PC.

It could interfere with the repeater input and disable the radio. Please, just get a scanner.
