Earset PMLN5096A problem with XPR6550

Hi guys.
I recently bought a PMLN5096A earset for my XPR6550, but have had nothing but grief with it.
When connected to the radio, the radio says "invalid accessory" every time.
The accessory cable type is correctly selected as Motorola.
My programming cable works fine with the radio. Very annoying the earset does not work, was expensive too.
Anyway, I am returning it today for a refund.
Anyone else had problems with audio accessories with a Mototrbo portable ?
