No Internal Speaker Audio - MAXTRAC

Well, I am 95% sure I have solved my own problem. Just got this Maxtrac 300 today - 5 PIN version. Measured transmit out - good! No audio, but I get the "busy" light, thus pretty sure it is receiving OK.

So I took it apart - the internal speaker has never been soldered to!!!!!

I can't be the first gut to run across this. Obviously, the previous owner used the external speaker option (out the 5 pin rear connector).

So here is my thinking - very near the 5 pin circuit board connection, there is a two-conductor (white) socket that is empty.

I'll bet that is the internal speaker connection - right? :o

Yep. If you can find the mating plug. Or you can tag wires on the five pin plug from inside the housing.

Yup - indeed! That was it!

I jury-rigged a connection to that white two-pin socket. Internal speaker works great!

Now looking for the real 2 conductor female connector. :(

Thanks!

Look at Molex catalog first then AMP (Tyco), they seem to be M's favorite connector vendors.

Look in some old computers, the sometimes they use the same two pin connector/ cable in them.

I could probably gut one out of some of these old Maxtracs we took out of service and mail you one if you can't find one.
