XPR6550 transmit problem

Hi guys.
I have a UHF XPR6550 with R01.09.10 firmware in it.
Was bought secondhand but in new condition & has the correct antenna. Problem is, when trying to Tx on high power, the radio
turns off right away & re-boots itself. Is working ok on low power mode.
Any ideas on what the cause of this may be ?
I am not using any audio accessories with the radio either.
Cheers, Chris.

Weak battery? Not enough juice to tx on hi power, but enough for low power.

I've seen failed batteries do that before. Might be worth checking the contacts between the battery and the radio as well to make sure they are clean. I have a old portable at home doing the same thing. On low power, and just receiving the thing will go most of the day. On high power, the battery just cannot supply the amperage.

Hi guys.
The battery turned out to be fine, was a new one made only this year.
The problem was the antenna. Was a OEM Motorola one, UHF stubby, green color code.
Damn thing appeared to have a open circuit in it. This was causing the radio to re-boot in high power (and sometimes low power) mode.
Never got any GPS lock with it either. Tested the radio into a dummy load, and all was good.
I now have another OEM antenna, UHF wideband, from a different supplier, and it is working fine.
Cheers, Chris.
