flash host upgrade question

Later this weekend I will be upgrading my firmware on my model 3 xts-2500 vhf to the latest DSP and firm which I believe is R19.00.00. I will be using the method known as "flashzap" pressing the PTT and orange button on power up. My question is, what will NOT upgrade while going this route?

That's all you have to do to upgrade your FW? Does it work via osmosis?

That's nothing. I put my APX into FZ mode and sat it next to a TRBO radio, so now it will do TRBO!

Java,
If I remember correctly it also will not upgrade the UCM firmware. You may want to check your tuning partition
revision before and after to see if that changed as well as the HOST and DSP.
If you post the model number I can tell you the current tuning partition revision.
Regards,
Allen

I believe ALL it does is the HOST and DSP. Nothing else. I highly recommend doing major jumps (ie revision leaps, 17 to 18, not 17.00.00 to say 17.00.01, etc) via legit means.

I believe Allen and Jason are correct, so to answer the original question, the codeplug version is not updated (but this can usually be gotten around with a read and write using the newer CPS afterward), and the tuning/bootloader/PSDT versions are not updated, nor is the UCM (if applicable), it's called the "dirty method" for good reason.
As Jason pointed out, these things may not matter for a minor bump, but occasionally there are changes to these other versions that need to match the host, for example I believe the PSDT was restructured around R12, now I don't exactly know what would happen if you tried to jam a newer host/DSP into partitions they weren't designed for, but I certainly would not like to try with one of my radios!
