MTS2000 trunking programming issues

Post by frc »

Hello all!

I am a total noob in this world of trunking and my knowledge is based on some internet guides etc., but I have a problem.

I work for a volunteer responder group in Finland (Red Cross first aid group), and we have a bunch of MTS2000s. I managed to read the devices and add conventional channels to them. Now I would like to play with the trunking system. The problem is that I need a system key to do that. The information I got from the radios is that they have firmware form 6.10 to 6.52, flashcode is 200008-000000-8, so they are capable of 250 modes and SmartZone systems. The system package is H38.

I tried to make system keys with the Batlabs method with Hex Workshop 4.2, but the CPS didn't recognize them (CPS 2.03.00).

How have you guys made your system keys to work? Idiotproof instructions would be appreciated :) . These are MDL III 800 MHZ radios. We can use some parts of the 800 MHz band (Ex-military) with free hands and have a blessing from the national communications agency, so that is not an issue.

Thanks in advance,

FRC

Although some people had limited success in the past making system keys which worked with the older DOS based RSS packages, I don't believe those same keys will work with the newer Windows based CPS software.

If you have the 'blessing' of the proper powers that be, then you should be able to acquire the needed system key from them in order to do your programming. Otherwise, you won't find any help in putting unauthorized radios onto a trunking system here.
