I have a friend that is licensed in the 150 MHz (one frequency) and operates a towing service. His current equipment is old Motrac/Mocom and some Maratracs. He is not using those radios - (due to narrowbanding). He is looking for a replacement radios. Something high power 100/110 watts - he only needs the one frequency. Ideas? Mods if this belongs somewhere else can you kindly move it. Thanks

It doesn't have to be Motorola - but that is what he has been running. (Motrac & Mocoms I guess they were built to last.)

For 110 Watt I would look for some Kenwood TK790H units. For Motorola a PM1500 would do the job.

I second the TK790H, one of the best high power analog radios out there.

there are some narrow band high power spectras around. also you may want to check to see his licenses is good to 100watts. seeing how you on Li it is pretty flat you may be able to get away with 45 watts radios

Motracs ... Could they have been Motrans?

Thanks for the Kenwood idea & I'll see if he's licensed for that power.

Has your friend amended his license for narrowband operation, or has he let it lapse? It's too late to do it now.
