RSM Volume up/down also invokes Monitor

RSM Volume up/down also invokes Monitor

RMN5066B RSM on an XTS 5000 (v19.5)
Why do the volume up/down buttons on the RSM also invoke the Monitor feature? (2-dot side button is the monitor on my radio).

It never did this on XTS 3000's with the same or different RSM.

Something I'm missing?
