Hi folks,
Apologies if this has been covered before.
I have the following setup.
Ast900n laptop, 486 processor.
Rib, and cable for ht600. All connections seem good but when I try to read radio getting "serial bus access error 3".
Battery is good in rib, power light on, radio battery is good also.
Ive checked pc and com ports are both activated?
Is there any other settings I'm overlooking.
Running dos, nothing else installed on pc.

Thanks

Ok, my stupidity astounds me sometimes. Found that within the radio software the computer configuration had com 2 instead of 1... So tried again, new error now "programmer not compatible with this radio", and as error appears on screen radio emits a tone also??

In the configure screen there is a COMM TEST. Use that to check if the computer RIB and cable are talking to the radio.

Which version of RSS are you using?, only the latest will work on Pentium processors.

Is this radio a HT600E, ex UK Police, and you are using MT1000 RSS? right!
HT600 software as found on net will not programme a European HT600E

Apologies for delayed response guys, on duty so no time to play I'm afraid.
Not sure which version of software I have, I'll check later... But I think your right it is ht600, not sure which version,
I know it says 1997 on startup.
I have 3 ht600s and 4 ht600e's, all European, which are on different channels, so trying to get them all talking.
I'll let you folks know how I get on ASAP.

By the way, I've managed to open & rebuild battery packs for these, at a cost of less than $4... I'll see how well they reseal and maybe forward photos etc to the site.

Well folks you were 100% right, used 1000 software and was able to program a ht600e and then clone other ht600es to that one.
All working well except one that doesn't transmit... I'm guessing that's a physical issue in the radio instead of a software issue (if anyone has any suggestions I'd appreciate them).
Tried the ht600 with the sane software... Bad ending I think, started reading then gave Fatal error!!
I'm guessing that's what it says.
