A friend is getting a W3 head Astro Spectra and wants to connect a DEK and siren.

Just verifying to hook it up, he'll need the HLN1439 siren, HLN1241 DEK, and HKN6145 cable? He would like to have Wail, Yelp, and Airhorn on the W3 head if it is possible.


This is my first time hooking up a W3 head radio with a siren.

You can control some siren function on the the W3 head itself. Then you don't need the 1439 siren and special dek cable. Just open up a w3 codeplug and experiment. Obviously assigning siren stuff to buttons is going take the place of other functions that you may want as well.

If you want to use a siren dek then yes you need the 1439 and special siren dek cable. I am installing one on an XTL5k O3 as we speak.

Thanks for the info. He wants to use a DEK and save the buttons on the radio. He has the DEK and the 1439 siren. Just need to find the special dek cable and siren cable.
