Hi all and good morning. I was working on the modifications to the RSS i saw on batlabs last night. I got it working for my UHF GM300 but on the RADMBL for the radius. I cannot get the system to add more modes. Its a 16ch radio as a start, so i went looking in the bits after the model number for the 16 and i found 3 bits from the model number and modified it like i did for the gm300 and a nogo. what am i doing wrong?

First be aware that the radius M214 / M216 has used many different logic bds.
There has been the 5 pin HLN5172A bd that uses prom firmware version 5.34
And a 5 pin HLN5173B that uses prom version 4.00 part # HLN9277A
Are you trying to mod with prom v4.00 by chance ?
Not sure but believe my way back experience was the v4.00 prom wouldn't do the extra channels above 16 due to it doesn't use a extended memory chip next to prom 4.00 on the HLN5173B 5 pin logic bd like the other bd HLN5172A with the other prom 5.34 which does have either a dallas chip or the 24 pin extended memory chip.
Don't recall ever seeing the Dallas memory chip in the M21/216 but its possible.
So if your logic bd is the 5 pin HLN5173B with V4.00 prom then its missing the extended memory chip and doesn't support above 16ch operation and was not made per factory with the memory extended chip.
Programming was stored on the square chip else where in the radio.
Ok and per the Motorolas firmware info sheet the M214/m216 was also made with the HLN9313 16 pin logic bd and it uses the version v21.01 prom which is for 16ch conv and this prom allows channel steering from the 16 pin I/o port.
So again the v21.01 might not allow more than 16ch = I myself don't know.
But if you have the v21.01 prom them im qeussing that if you put the 5.34 prom in and reinitiate bd with it then youd get 32 ch.
You mentioned that you did another with no troubles so id check its logic bd and prom against the radio you cant add extra modes and see if theirs a diference in firmware or bds.
I did a google search and found out that the 5 pin logic bd HLN5172 is actually the same as the HLN9313 16 pin logic bd but has the 5 pin option as the only difference.
Both used the 5.34 prom which allowed 32 ch expansion.
Per the info any other 5 pin logic bd with any other prom version would not convert above 16ch operation.
So the secret it looks to me is you have to have the 5 pin HLN5172 logic bd or the HLN9313 16 pin bd with the 5.34 version prom to get 32ch ability.
