Motorola MaxTrac LS HELP!

Sorry I am VERY new at all this!

I have (6) MaxTrac LS Model # D45MQA5GB5AK
They turn on and the only 2 channels are 12 & 21
When I try to key down I get a beep within 2 sec and after 4 sec I get an siren type noise

My guess these are setup for trunking? But not sure.

What do I need to do to use them as a 2 way radio (if possible)

Hello:
Ok gotta edit in some info here as an after thought.
You posted a 2ch model number but mention a ch number on what id say is a multi ch head.
So you might have the 10/10/10 multi ch with a pa swapped out that doesn't match its actual model number.
Or you have a 2ch with multi head put on but I don't think it would show a ch number if that was done.
Two ch maxtrac ls didn't do conventional but the multi ch did.
Which you have is the question.
Does your radio have the 16 pin logic bd or is it the 5 pin logic bd ?
The maxtrac LS was indeed a trunking mobile .
Ltr was its trunking type of operation and not Privacy Plus which was more commonly found around my area.
The maxtrac ls did do conventional cannels.
Its specs was that it would do 10 conventional channels besides the several trunking modes.
It did not use the normal motorla maxtrac trunking rss.
It used Maxtrac LS radio service software number RVN4139 revision R02.0300b ( I believe that's the newest version last produced)
Don't think its available from Motorola anymore but I could be wrong.
The maxtrac privacy plus mobiles used Maxtrac Trunking versionR05.07.01 ( Will not work with LTR trunking mobiles known as the maxtrac LS.)
You can delete all but one trunking ch if you want but one must stay in mobile per rss and can not be deleted but you can program the trunk ch with non operating specs and program in up to 10 conventional channels and just ignore the trunk personality.
You use the rss program to add or delete trunking and conventional channels adjust wattage and freq deviation plus other features in the radio.
Also be aware that the LS was programmed with a DOS computer and rib and cable so you can not program it with a windows 2000 or windows 7 computer .
Must be a DOS plat form computer.
Good Luck

Satelite,

Hey thanks for all that information!
If I get the computer, RIB cable and software (is the software downloadable or cost?) is it doable? I am sure I can hook everything up but is the programming tough?

Maybe someone on the forum or you want to make a little extra cash? I can pay for shipping and your time to get all 6 of these to talk to each other with min of 1 channel is good?

Hello :
Now I am confused.
The model number you posted D45mqa5gb5ak says its a 35 watt 2 sub/ 2system no conventional per the pa sticker.
But you state from what im thinking is a multi ch ls front on it.
Then again you said ch 12 and 21 which a 2/2 wouldn't show.
So I really think you may have a multi ch ls with the pa swapped out with wrong model number which would work if its a 800 MHz mobile.
Or its a conventional only 16 ch with ls front and diferent pa which again would work if all 800 mhz.
Or its a privacy plus 10/10/10 with swapped parts that again would work if all 800.
Not sure what you have now with the info I found.
Is it possible these are hacked put together with parts radios ?
