I'm looking to "separate" a GM300 and an M120 to make them remote head setups so the bricks can be out of the way and have the heads more accessible. I'm unable to mount local bricks on my desk as they would interfere with the VCR (there for importing VCR->DVD) and other gear on my desk on tx. Could someone please help me with part numbers, prices and availabilities please.

I'm trying to stay with the GM300/M120 as we've noticed they are just a solid good performing radio and not a bad price now. They are easy to find in a 45w back end where all the Warris etc here are 25max. Whilst we don't run @45w it allows us a higher duty cycle at a lower power setting.

Motorola did produce a remote kit for the GM300. They pop up on Ebay every once in a great while, and they usually pull a high selling price. I don't know for sure that the M120 had a remote kit of its own or if the GM300 kit would work on it as they are in the same product line. It's a fairly rare item.

The kit is HLN3007. Using a google search, I found lots of hits on both the part number and GM300 remote. I even found an online vendor that still lists the kit for sale: http://www.ameradio.com/product/562/description.html

I would encourage you to use your favorite search engine on this one. A lot of the hits were here and on repeater-builder.com. I got 244,000 hits so I suspect you'll find a bunch of helpful stuff out there.

That said, If you just need mic and speaker, you should be able to remote them yourself without much trouble if you only need to move the radios a few yards away. All the lines needed appear at the mic connector or at the 16 pin accessory connector. I believe you'd need an amplified speaker if your radios only have the 5 pin accessory or if you want to be able to adjust volume at the desk.

Thanks for the part number. As for searching, I'd done some searching but was using GM300 separation kit etc and found basically SFA. Will look at that site as well.

The remote control head option used a flat ribbon cable up to 22 feet between the head and radio.

Just add the male and female connectors with the length of cable needed.
