So I have a Motorola CDM1250 that I can not read or write too. I have tried loading the old saved code plug to it along with few others. No good. Turn the radio on and I get "CS Error". Little background on what happened, radio lost power in the middle of programing.

Anyways is there anything else I can do to fix this or do I need to send it off to depot or can someone here maybe fix it.... Thanks for the help guys

OK so I was able to get the radio to work and now same problem. It asks if I want to recover the radio, I go with the default code plug then it tells me "General communications error while programing". If I plug the radio control head back in the screen says "PROGRAMING" if I turn it off and back on I get the CS ERROR on the screen. If I try and load an old working code plug (I have 3) it tells me "Unable to get codeplug from the device in order to verify whether we can write to this device or not". Stupid radio is starting to really P**S me off. I checked the cable and software on another CDM radio no problems. So I know its something with this one 1250. Anyone have any other tricks or is this radio just need to be sent off to the depot

When you say "plug the control head back in", do you mean you are programming by disconnecting the remote head and plugging into the 10 pin RJ50 on the main unit? Or are you removing the head and placing it back on the radio and programming through the mic connector?
Anecdotal info here as I have not experienced this myself, but others have reported that some CDM's just don't want to be programmed through the remote head mic connector or even through the 10 pin remote connector. They had to remove the face panel from remote configuration and install it back on the radio. Once that is done, the unit programs normally. Of course they then had to return it to remote configuration. All of that supposes that you've the adapter section to fit the head back on the radio although I suppose you could program it on the bench with the head lying loose connected to the radio by the gray flat cable.
If you've got a spare head lying about, it might be worth swapping to see if that helps.
As I said, I haven't had that problem myself. Several of the CDM's I maintain are in remote configuration, and they program just fine through the mic connector.

Well this one is remote set up and has never worked plugged into the mic on the radio head. So yes I have been working off the radio itself. Even that has been hard. The radio has been pulled and now sits on my desk. I will try making it a dash mount radio again and programing it that way. Thanks

Interesting. That may explain part of your problem - bad cable, the radio is plain old broken.

Well I made the radio a dash mount again and that fixed the problem. Was able to restore the codeplug then load my old plug and change some things around. This is just a picky radio. I have another cable I am going to try when I set it back up as remote mount. Thanks for the help
