I bought a ht1250 that is about 10yrs old. The bats that I got with it (2 of them) go down pretty quick. So, I bought a ray oval ultra pro ray9009/lkm9009. Charged it for 24hrs, it lasted about 5 hrs the first day, recharged for 24hrs....lasted again about 4-5 hrs. I don't kn how to test my charger".....do I have a bat issue , charger issue or something wrong with my radio? The bats will run down with the radio off"?"?????? Help! please

My suggestion (I'll be strait to the point): Buy a proper Motorola battery. Most of the aftermarket batteries (like the one you bought) are crap in some way or another.

Earl,
All batteries self discharge, just not that fast.
You may want to charge your battery and measure the voltage of it when the charger says it is charged.
It should be above 7.5 volts DC and will be decreasing at a slowing rate after you remove it from the charger.
If you don't want to purchase a Motorola battery you may want to try a imax_expert batter from eBay.
They offer a 1 year warranty with their batteries.
I use them for a lot of my home radios.
Try www.ebay.com/itm/160475897826

All that being said, if your radio is critical for your survival or someone elses, buy a genuine Motorola battery.

Don't buy aftermarket, they are complete and utter junk

Buy OEM
