Anyone know if it is possible to take a GTX800 DTMF front case and put it on a GTX900
to add DTMF to the GTX900?
I would think the codepllug lives on the main board rather than the front case.
Thanks, Mike

If you're talking about a GTX portable on 900 MHz, the code plug and microprocessor ARE on the board that sits inside the front of the case, NOT on the RF board.
A long time ago, someone managed to blank and load an 800 MHz code plug into a 900 MHz GTX portable. Let's just say the radio was not happy after this was done, but it accepted it. I can't say for sure if the front board is the same between 800 and 900 MHz radios but it wouldn't surprise me if it was. The RF boards will obviously be different though.

Well that is kinda what i want to do, i have gtx 900mhz radios without the dtmf keypad
and i have 800mhz gtx with keypad, so i was hoping i could take the keypad off of the 800
and install it with the 900mhz radio and replace the codeplug so i could end up with a
900mhz gtx with dtmp keypad. Yea i see the codeplug is in the keypad, it figures
would be to easy just to swap and be done.

I've only ever worked with models that already had the DTMF pad and LCD display. I don't know if the same logic module is used on models without those front panel devices. Knowing Motorola, it's probably a completely different unit. The GTX portable service manual doesn't even show the basic model (without the DTMF pad or LCD display).
