hi if anyone can help it would be nice i bought some mcs2000 for my bis for a goverment action when the radios are read they say
the radio codeplug being read is set to ihibited i need to change the to uninhibit when i contacted motorola radio where not stolen but they want more then i paid for them to fix it its just not worth it.

Inhibited radios from a government auction?

The only only inhibitions I know of are
1. no tx which is set in cps per profile and since you will need to create a new codeplug this won't be an issue, or
2. the radio has been "stung" which means it most like IS stolen (reported or not is another story) in which case afaik you will need the previous programmer to clear the codeplug because it would probably be passworded to prevent unauthorised access but don't quote me on that one.

Either way if it is stung then your in for a bumpy ride and it is MOST unusual for legitimate ex gov equipment from any country to be stung at sale as that means it still has the network files programmed in and I don't know of any government group that sells their gear without first clearing it.

Replace programmer with system administrator or dispatcher with access to the unstun button at the console and you're much closer

Unstunned radios cannot be unstunned via any legitimate end user means using CPS or any other software. It would contravene the whole idea of radios being stunned...

Thanks escomm... I was wondering how MCS2000's for example could be stung when they have no CPS password (assuming that model can) and most older radios had no CPS password so I was scratching on that one but knew the principle behind it at least .

I notice our coppers (NSW Australia) are now VERY pro stinging the radios, even when a car goes in for scheduled servicing. Often hear "whatever-station201, car is going in for scheduled servicing please sting the radio" and "whatever station 201, car is back from servicing please unsting the radio".

On this subject, is it possible to setup stinging via standard MDC signalling over a conventional FM frequency rather than trunked setups? I know the coppers are using clear C4FM here so possible there but just not sure if for example I could sting my XTL5000 from an MCS2000 and then unsting it again using a standard 12.5/25k FM channel.

And anyone know if the MCS2000 can be stung, especially in conventional as I've just asked for the XTL?

Make it a btch for anyone who stole my car to not be able to use the radios rofl and the only comms shop in the area knows my choice of gear and knows what I have so would be on the phone to me rather quickly when a dumbasz walks into him with an XTL/MCS saying STUNG.

Yeah most mid to high tier Motorola MDC1200 radios are capable of being stunned from a console
