The end of support for XP and XP Compatability mode

I work in a corporate environment where the leaders of IT have decreed that all XP machines will be converted to Windows 7 since support from Microsoft is ending for XP in the beginning of April. For years I have enjoyed the relative stability that XP has provided so I have not paid any attention to how people have adapted to Win 7.
The majority of radios in our fleet are MTS2000 and MCS2000 radios. I also have some MTR2000 base stations out in the field. I am wondering how other people have made the CPS for these radios work in Windows 7. Is it possible? I sure would like to be able to continue to use my desktop for programming and tuning. I have searched a bit thru this forum but most of the responses I have found are not very specific about if they are using compatability mode or not.
I understand that I can keep an XP machine just for programming these radios. I still have one on a shelf for the older DOS based RSS.
What do you know??
