According to what I am seeing, it appears as if the RMN5038A mic is compatible with the XTS2500. I have a few questions though.

[*]Does the vol + and - *actually* work on the 2500?
[*]Does the Emerg button work on the 2500?
[*]Does this unit have an internal battery like the HMN4080A?

Thanks,
Tucker

Volume is not volume from the radio, it's just a fine adjustment at the mic. And you can only use the orange button for emergency on that mic, it won't follow the orange button programming from the radio.

It wont follow emergency programming on radio? Is there something special I have to do to make it work?

The answer to #2 is "Sort of"

It does NOT activate the top orange button on the radio. It activates the man down feature of the radio. You have to push and hold the orange button for the duration of the man down wait time 9at which time the radio beeps, confusing the user to think that the emergency was sent), then continue to hold the button through the pre-transmit until the emergency is then sent.

You can mitigate this by turning down the times to 1 second each.

I found the the post was a bit confusing. Technically it would work without special programming, but it will follow the man down timing. He may have to hold the orange button for 10 to 15 minutes to activate the man down function.

If he wants to send the emergency faster, then yes, there is something special he needs to do. Reprogram the man down times.

Fair enough. The mic is unique, as stated clearly, that it won't follow the orange button programming, which probably leads to half of the inquiries I get on the mic falling through. Even Motorola's initial documentation on it was unclear and they had to update the insert the mic comes with to make sure it was clear. Now if they could just remove the "submersible" note from the sticker they put on the box it comes in.. all will be well.. but alas, the thread digresses xD

Minutes? Wow. Or did you mean seconds?
