GP68 - keys functions wrong / different from manual?

Post by g8tzl2004 »

I have just acquired a UHF GP68.

The radio works but the key functions are all wrong.

When you toggle the SQL button, its adjusts the repeater offsets +/- rather than allowing the SQL threshold to be adjusted.

When you press SIG (PL toggle?), its like pressing the number 2 key - you get 432.222 being inputted on the LCD

The down arrow key also adjusts the repeater offsets.

I reset the radio to the factory default and now the SQ stays open and I cannot figure out how to adjust the SQL level....the SQL key just adjusts the repeater offset.

Maybe I need to remove the "resister" to allow user programming....but if the resister is still in place, why am I having issues with the buttons.

Maybe its a firmware issue - old firmware which was cloned by a "master GP68" which was running newer firmware?

Any other ideas?

Thanks

I bought the GP68 locally from a junk sale..but I guess its probably one of the Chinese rebuilt sets - tag looks OK but its probably rebuilt from genuine but faulty Motorola parts. At least I only paid $6.
