Is the default Motorola factory squelch level for a brand new radio set low or high?
Do techs usually have to adjust the default squelch level when first setting up a radio?
I recently acquired an unprogrammed Motorola EX600 and found that the default squelch level was set reasonably low (which is good).
I've just acquired a HT1250 and found that the narrowband SQ setting was 63 - the maximum possible and the 20KHz setting was 57 (very high). I've now lowered it to around 40. Would the radio have come from the factory with a 12.5KHz SQ setting of 63??

- What radios do you own?: Jedis and Sabers, mostly.

I haven't dealt with a fresh-from-the-factory unit, but all the Jedi portables I've worked on have had their squelch levels set way high, like fifteen notches above quieting. Reduces falsing, I suppose, but at the cost of weak-signal ability.
