I have a syntor x9000 system which uses two radio units and one control head. HCN 1036 sp04 The problem I have is I tried to program the system but now I get " Fail 01/90 " The head programs and the radio units program. I can transmit and receive but am unable to switch between uhf or vhf. I checked the troubleshooting section to the best of my ability. And the chart suggest u1 as the problem, does any one have any suggestions

Sounds like one of the radio's are not getting the power correctly. I have received this message before and the wiring was correct. I find that if you program both radios with the dual radio attached, you tend to get this error. Try reprogramming both radio's individually. Should clear the fail, worked for me.

I agree, Fail 01/90 usually has something to do with loss of power, here is a post on it previously:

This maybe a stupid question, but did you use the "SP" RSS to do your programming? A "FAIL 01/90" is the error code for the single radio configuration when the control head cannot communicate to the drawer. In a dual radio configuration, the 01 would be replaced by the desiginator for either the primary or secondary drawer unit that the control head cannot establish communications with (see dual radio section of bat labs for error codes.) Based on the info you provided, I'm speculating you programmed with standard (single radio) RSS. If you did, PM me and we can help you with programming.

Ok... I used the older ver 4 sp 03, and I am able to get the radio back. No more codes. It seem's I can't program the ham (440- 450) band due to the lack of the option ..Anyone have any suggestions.

What you can do...

If you have access to the "ham" version that is floating around, this is what you do...

Unhook the radio you want out of the dual radio setup. Hook the programming and radio cable (radio to control head) up. Now load up the ham software and program the radio as normal. The radio will then program the ham freq's in, but shouldn't touch the area in teh eeprom that tells it that its a dual radio. The logic is that the normal and ham RSS does not know about the dual radio setup, so it doesn't touch that area of the chip.

But the setup back together, and reprogram the control head to reflect the changes
