Assuming the two radios are tuned correctly, is it possible and reasonable to "clone" the EEPROM of one Mostar radio with a standard PROM burner, store the hex file, erase the second radio's PROM, and burn in the first radio's program? UHF 2-channel versions, if it matters.
Thanks,
Phil

Re: Mostar Programming Question
Those radios are so old, I am surprised they still work. Go for the prom swap. You will probably have to touch up the alignment of the radio before you done.Purpleman wrote:Assuming the two radios are tuned correctly, is it possible and reasonable to "clone" the EEPROM of one Mostar radio with a standard PROM burner, store the hex file, erase the second radio's PROM, and burn in the first radio's program? Hope your not trying to use them on a commercial channel.

Re: Mostar Programming Question
Jim,
I have a couple already on GMRS, the plan would be to pull the EEPROM on one of those and copy/burn to the "new" ones.
Andy Brinkley tuned up the original pair, they work great. This pair is supposedly on 463.x , so the receive may b a little off.
But I bought them for $26.00 shipped with one clamshell and one desk mic, so
the radios themselves are sort of gravy here...spares. Hence the question.
Thanks,
Phil

Re: Mostar Programming Question
Hello:
463.x is not a GMRS freq.
Just so your aware .
No sense in going through the work to find that out later.

Re: Mostar Programming Question
Cloning it in a PROM burner should give you an exact copy, so you could just swap the programmed chip into one of the radios and see if it works. If it does, a cloned chip should work as well.
Re: Mostar Programming Question
Thanks jackackett, that is exactly what I hoped to hear.
Satelite, to be clear: I want to "clone" a MOSTAR that is already programmed to 462.XXX wideband GMRS frequencies. The *target* radio is *currently* on 463.XXX, hopefully on 462.6 in the future!
