MIP5000 setup question

Post by 19SargeUSMC56 »

Setting up a 2 pos console here with a single tone resource for the moment, and this thing is driving me nuts. One position can see the resource, the other one can't. The DCPM service manager is telling me the control link is green but the RTP link is down.

Motorola offers no setup support, and I'm not sure what the deal is. All network hardware is interconnected thru an HP J9080A ProCurve switch.

I'd appreciate any feedback.

Thx.

There are a whole bunch of manuals available for download on the MOL site for this unit. Problem is some of them are about 20 megs is size and probably couldn't be emailed.

I would try to turn off the firewall on the position that is not seeing the resource, if it appears then make sure you have set all of your firewall exceptions to NOT block any of the required Motorola applications.

edited to clarify my error of the firewall blocking vs. not blocking applications

I think you meant to say to "ALLOW" all of the required Motorola applications.

No. I have a Cisco SLM224P router. IGMP snooping and bridge multicast filtering enabled. This isn't the switch that Mot recommends. It's what I have to work with.

I would suggest that you find someone that knows how to set up that router.

What radios do you own?: Motorola

I assume that you have the dongle in both op positions. So a few questions.
Is all the hardware plugged into the local switch?
Can the second op see the First op computer on the network ( with it ping it)?
Can the second op see the gateway (ping it)?
The first OP computer is also the server for the config files, it has to be able to see it.
I assume that you added the second OP in the CSDM so the system will recognize it and that EVERYTHING is typed in correctly including the PC name (has to match the assigned PC name exactly).

You may have already figured this out, if not email me kb8vul@gmail.com and I will try helping as I can. Support on these sucks unless you are a premier MSS with Motorola and it's new.
