Hi, I have 2 Ht1000's with loose antenna mounts. Is it feasible to repair these and with what procedure?
Thank you for any help. Jim

Loose antenna jack: A common problem caused by people using the antenna as a 'handle'.
Requires removal of the RF board and controller from the main casting. Depending on how loose the antenna jack is, the jack may have to be knurled and pressed back into the casting. Some times pressing the jack back into the casting all the way and red locktite.
I made a press jig to do this.

Thanks, can you send me the jig? just kidding. I appreciate the information. Oh, by the way, does the MT2000 come apart like the HT1000?

I am constantly telling people "Don't pick it up by the handle!" If the offender is a guy, and depending on the rest of the audience and, I'll ask "Did your mama pick you up by your handle?"

The antenna connector is role pin secured into the metal back plane
and the proper procedure is to replace the back plane with a new one
making sure the original sticky ID tag gets moved to the new back plane.

the earlier (BN and AN) radio chassis lacked the locking pin, and thus, were prone to coming loose. Even from normal use.
I always just replaced the rear chassis.
