Depot Lab and changing regions

I have an XiR P8268 I need to upgrade firmware on, and have had no luck getting my hands on AZ region firmware- so it looks like next best option is to use Lab to put AA firmware in that I have and make it a 6550.
Having not messed with the Depot Lab, does each version need a specific version of CPS installed along with it to work? Are there any other tricks I need to know before I try?
