Other than manufacture date, can any additional info be obtained with the serial number?

First 3 are specific to model series, next 3 are mfg date info, last 4 is the production number.

I don't want to start a new thread for this, but I'm looking at one specific astro saber. I'm curious if it has the 1 meg vocon. My research has yielded conflicting info. Please help. H04RDH9PW7AN serial: 310awa0159. Thanks!

What does the radio say it is when you put it in service mode?

And that's the problem, I don't have possession of it. It's on ebay. From what I've gathered it was manufactured in January of 1996 making it a 512k, but the previous owner said he used it for p25. Also, could someone confirm the actual r band split? Is it 403-470?

There is no limitation on 512k vocons supporting P25.

you may be right, I'm sure you know much more about this than I do. But I'm basing this off of information from this website. "it appears that every XTS-3000 has a 1M vocon board. The ASTRO Saber's on the other hand could have either 512k or 1M.
In a fully compliant, Project-25, Astro, digital tunking system (9600 baud control channel, etc.), you must have a radio with e 1M vocon board, and the HOST firmware version must be equal or greater then R07.00.00."

Yes R is usually 403 to 470.

Well you're not going to be using an Astro Saber on a UHF P25 trunking system so you're all good there. They only support 9600 trunking on 800MHz. P25 conventional is all you're worried about
