M1225 LS transmits ("pulses") upon power up

I just picked up a used M1225 LS and as soon as I turn it on, it keys up and off and keys up and off in a cycle of about 2 seconds. It continues until I turn it off and when powered up, it starts all over. No mic is plugged in and the rear connector is clean. I have seen through search that others have had similar random transmit problems. And of course, I can not read the radio because it is in transmit mode most of the time. The software can not get a connection and errors out.
Any ideas besides the mic and rear connector shorts to look for?
Thanks

If I recall correctly, the LTR mobiles *did not* start their hunt for a home channel by transmitting. That wouldn't make sense. But, if the default mode was conventional, and it originally had an emergency button on the accy port, it may be trying to report an alarm. Jumper 9 and 7 together to see if it calms down. Then again, it may be broken, or it may have been hacked.

If it's on an LTR mode, they do transmit one or more bursts before channel grant. But I don't recall an emergency option, so I'm not sure that's the culprit. Could be a modified or shorted mic jack, which would explain being unable to read it. Can you change modes after power on to see if it has a conventional channel programmed?

Thanks... I found that pin 16 and 14 on the rear connector were shorted out. That fixed the transmit problem. I think I have the wrong cable though (Polaris CDM, Pm400, SM50) . Will not read radio. May have to make cable.
Thanks again for the help

Hmmm... the LS uses a different RSS... The one I have is for the regular m1225. Moto stopped selling it also. They told me that unless I downloaded it before (I guess an older version than the last they sold) then I could not get a copy from their download area.... seems a bit unfair.... I had not need for it in the past so I would not have bought it before.. now I need it to program one of their devices...

Thanks again for everyone's help here. I went from no go to full out of band programming! I hope I can contribute as much here as others, but my technical and practical experience is a bit limited compared to most of you.
All the best,
Dennis
