I see this note in the Motorola documentation:
When ordering the FPP option you only get 240 channels.

You are limited to 15x16=240 FPP channels for zones 1-15, 50 zones total, 255 conventional personalities, 255 channels per zone for the non-FPP zones, and 1000 channels total.

Steve - I received your e-mail and tried to reply, but the e-mail address that you are using on the board no longer appears to be valid. Also, a moderator may want to move this thread to the programming forum, but here's the answer to the question that you sent to me by e-mail.
First, don't be misled by the way that FPP works into thinking that you need to have one conventional personality for each channel. You don't. That's just the way that the FPP zones, channels, and personalities work. If you look at your first FPP zone as an example, you will see 16 channels, one corresponding to each position of the channel selector switch. Each of those channels will show a corresponding conventional personality that is numbered 1-16. That setup repeats for each of the remaining 14 FPP zones (2-15).
Now, let's say that you want to add other channels. First, you create a new non-FPP conventional personality - in your case it will be number 241. It is important to know that you will probably never need to add more than a few so you won't go above the 255 limit. That's because multiple non-FPP channels can use the same conventional personality. For example, you can have 5 conventional personalities to cover most options:
1. ASTRO MM (P25 TX and Mixed Mode RX)
2. ANALOG MM (Analog TX and Mixed Mode RX)
3. ASTRO (P25 TX and P25 RX)
4. ANALOG (Analog TX and Analog RX)
5. RX ONLY (No TX and Mixed Mode RX)
After you create those 5 conventional personalities (241 through 245), create a new zone, which in your case would be zone 16, and add channels. You can add up to 255 channels to the zone if you want, but you will only be able to reach 16 of them with the channel selector. To reach the "upper" channels, you will have to program one of your buttons or menu keys for channel up/channel down. That's a pain, but it's the only way to have 1000 channels in the radio since you are limited to 50 zones x 16 that you can access with the channel selector. For each channel that you add to the zone, you assign one of the 5 conventional personalities that you created along with the frequency, PL, and other parameters.
