Is is possible to upgrade a JEDI (MT-2000) from a B5 (limited keyboard) to a B7 (full keypad)? I installed a B7 front on a B5 but it still acts as if the other keys didn't exist.
I know Lab has a setting for "full keypad" vs. limited keypad but this doesn't seem to make any difference. Any ideas?
Maybe I just need a B7 codeplug. Does anyone have a UHF-lo (403-470 MHZ) B7 codeplug with Type II trunking I could try?
Thanks,
John

I've never seen a MT2000 in a "B5" format. I've seen an MTS2000 and MTX8000 but the "B" designation usually denotes "trunking" Now I've seen them in A4 and A7 configurations but never an A5. I think you need to go back and figure out what radio you really have there By looking under the battery pack and giving us the model # on the back tag. Is this an old government radio, because with bandsplit you are talking about, It could be a special UHF-LO Smartnet MT2000.

Go into the program, and change the B5 to B7 where you can change Model #, thats all you really have to do. I forget what menu its in because I dont screw with that stuff often, but its under one of the first ones on the F keys

The model number and serial number programmed into the radio are arbitrary. You can program any text into those fields and write the radio and it won't affect the radio at all. (nice place for your name and phone number in case someone steals it and some legit person down the line sees it)
There are several changes that must be done in lab. The first is to tell the radio that it has a full display (1 line, 14 chars). The next step is to go into the button setup menu where you assign functions to the top and side buttons. There's a F9-Other menu you access that shows the keypad buttons. You have to add all of the number buttons into that screen and reconfigure the menu buttons. The best way to do this is by reading a B7 codeplug into lab and making your codeplug match it.

That worked... I went into Lab and enable the 14-char single line display (it was already set that way) then I went to Lab Button Other (F9) and deleted all the buttons and readded them. All but Man Down, JVA and Hub switch add fine as default. Those three you have to add and then change. Anyway, after doing that it works fine. Thanks.
