MTS2000 mdl 2, 3 flex compatabile ?

Post by RadioSouth »

Recently recased a MTS2000 mdl. 2 and noticed the front flex assembly has the extra contacts for a 15 button mdl.3 front.
Are the model 2 and 3 flex assemblies compatible parts ? (Looking to use an extra mdl.2 flex to fix a JT1000 with display pixel issues).

all the Jedi flexes are the same. You can even use ones in non-display radios like an HT1000. I've done it before.

Thanks Erik, I guess the info. I seek goes beyond the flex. Basically I'm trying to confirm that the MTS2000 mdl. 2 uses the same front flex assembly (the flex that has the speaker, mic, display and contacts for the buttons). I had found that the assembly for the mdl. 2 has 15 contacts for the front buttons (even though only 6 are used on the mdl. 2) and was trying to confirm that the 15 contacts would be active if the assembly were dropped into a 15 key radio, in my case a JT1000 ?

Jim

Just last week I removed a model 3 flex assy [display, speaker, mike, ttp] that had missing pixels, & replaced it with a perfect model 2 assy [that came from Erik] & life is good. This is probably the 5th time I have done this over the years. If you compare the circuitry on different boards, you will see there are 2 different styles. They are completely interchangable. GARY

what Gary said is true. All the Jedi front display keypad/display boards/flexes are interchangeable.
It's just the rubber keypad and housing that differ.
