I need to check some MTR2000's and 3000's for desense while repeating. Is there an easy way to shut off the transmitters?

Take it out of repeat and key the transmitter externally is one way.

There should be a TX Disable pin on the 96-pin connector on the back, but I think VA3HF has the right idea.... Another option is to put it in carrier squelch using the test mode in the software, and run a signal into it, and use a hand mic to key the transmitter (uses the same mic as a MaxTrac).

that's how I put mine in test mode, just put it in test mode in MTR2000 RSS, and key the local mike.

Pull the rx ant cable. No in-zees, no out-zees.

I use the GMN6147B which I carry on the truck for testing these things. Simply plug in the special mic, and cycle through the 3 squelch modes with the center button opposite the PTT. Speaker also required as they didn't include one. Put it in open squelch, generate weak signal, and then transmit with the mic. This way the repeater is still in service for the users also.

The software is a pain when doing simple testing and a hassle to set up the laptop. When you go from normal squelch to carrier squelch you can't get back to normal squelch again. Then you can only go from CSQ to open and back. If you reset the station it goes back to normal squelch.

Maybe there is another way but I find the mic is usually quickest and best.
