Does anyone know what EEP ERR means in the display when you
power up a GP2000? Does anyone know how to get it to go away?
I tried to reset the radio but that doesn't appear to be the solution.

Hmmm....Not sure what that is. I don't have the error codes on the radio, only the cloning error codes. Some of these codes are probably similar to normal error codes, here are some, but not the one you are looking for:
BCC ERR - Data communications checksum error
TYPE ERR - Mismatch in model numbers (I assume this is for cloning)
CMD ERR - Data communications command error
Are you programming through the keypad or using the CPS software?
How did you do your reset, there is the steps to do a factory reset:
1. Set the radio in Dealer Configuration
2. Press and hold '-' and 'MON' together, while turning on the radio. LCD displays INIT OK.
3. Press PTT to confirm factory reset, or turn off the radio to exit.
Note: When factory reset is in progress, LCD displays 'INITIAL' for one second. When factory reset is completed, radio turns itself off, and back on again.

No...EEprom Error. Did you attempt to flash the radio without the proper equiptment??
The radio with its battery was carried in my luggage in my trunk and was found when unpacked to be turned on with a dead battery.
Radio has no response except when Powered on with "D" pressed it displays "0220" then "EEP ERR" .

PS: Attempted to clone from other radio is no go and gives a "TYPE ERR" in radio attempting to clone from (radio attempting to be cloned from has no problem either before the cloning attempt or after, so the problem stays with the "EEP ERR" radio.).

Hi, sorry to say that is probably a fatal error. Usually happens out of the blue, software crash or something.
Not that I ever had a hand in any of those radios, BUT.....
Back in the day, I saw EPP ERR in the display, and as told to me by my uh.... supplier:
"It no fix, return for replacement."
If memory serves, it would even read/write just fine but simply would not work. Had some very unhappy hams over the delays in getting them swapped out.

Fix GP2000 ERROR
Hi all,
I can fix GP2000 error.
Please remove original eeprom,
than replace new eeprom.
I have eeprom for:
GP2000 UHF 435-480 MHz,
GP2000 UHF 430-440 MHz,
GP2000 UHF 425-480 MHz,
GP2000 VHF 130-174 MHz.

Kinda funny that it happened during front face programming. Usually you get an eeprom error, when you cut the power to the radio during programming. Could be some power issues wih the radio, and it may happen again with new eeprom, but then again, it could just be a complete fluke.

Well, I'll tell ya, the EPP Error with that radio was a "1 in 20 radios" from my experience, and was mostly reported as a 'during keypad programming' occurance or a 'removal of battery with the radio on' problem. Saw a lot of them and it required the chip replacement, with NO other way to save it. Bandsplits may/may not be available in non-standard either, as it's possible [looking at Bram's location] that he is just two-stepping them from a local source, or even off the shelf.
Seems to have been a firmware issue that caused a crash, but supposedly "fixed" later on...
BRAM, if you are burning the chips, email me please and let me know.

From 435-480MHz to 425-480MHz.
From 403-440MHz to 425-465MHz.
Tx Rx no problem......
Please read eeprom from good radio.
Than write to eeprom to bad radio.
Use the Willem Programmer.

24c16 is SMD case SOIC8.
(covered with paper insulated).
Remove it from RF Board (under keypad board).
Then replace with new eeprom.
