MCS2000 control head question

I have a UHF1 MCS2000 remote mounted radio with a model III control head. The control head was stolen. Can anyone tell me if any model III control head, regardless if it was attached to a VHF, UFH or 800 band radio, will work on any radio?

In other words, If I had a VHF and a UHF MCS2000 radio both with Model III control head but different channel display information and different button configuration, can I take the VHF and connect it to my UHF radio? I suspect that whatever display name, and control button configuration would still be the same for VHF but functionality wise, it should still work. The channel/zone select, scan, menu etc would work as configured as it did when on the VHF radio?

Thanks for your input.

If the heads are the same model you should be able to swap them without problem. The channel and button information is stored in the radio.

As mentioned, as long as you just replace it off a M3 then all sweet. When I was playing with the MCS all the time I'd regularly swap out bits and pieces if I got a new shipment in to give my radios the best of all I could get and then sell the rest. They were all M2 and the heads swapping out was fine. IIRC the head just transmits an SB9600 command and then the body intercepts and acts upon it how it's been programmed to do so.

Thanks both for providing that information. I didn't think there would be any issue. I am looking to get one on eBay to replace my stolen control head and some says 800 and other says all band etc. So I just wanted to verify that it does not matter if the radio itself was 800 or VHF, as long as it is a Model 3 control head, I will be fine.

I do also appreciate the additional information which states the control head information is actually on the radio and that replacing the control head would make no difference, the display name and programmed buttons will be identical since that information is in the radio and not the control head.

Many thanks for your expert information.
