Is there a way to bypass a final in PA? I would like to get a 40watt PA to 5-10 watts to drive an amplifier. This in turn would increase the duty cycle for a repeater.

Is the GM300 UHF excite wattage 50mw? If that is the case, the exciter is too low and would not give me enough for the amp to produce 75watts.

I am trying to make a repeater with an old GE Mastr ii amp and GM300's. As you well know the GM300 cannot be used as a stand alone transmitter due to the duty cycle of these radios. If I can bypass a final to get my 5-10 watts, this would not create the heat and would increase the duty cycle allow it to be used for a repeater transmitter.

Please let me know if this can be done.

I am not sure about bypassing the final but there is another possibility I plan to use.

I am replacing my current PA with one with a 2 watt output. Here are the part numbers of 2 watt PA:
HUE3197B and HLE3770A.

That said I have been running my gm300 as a hotspot for 6 months set at 30 watts out with a fan on the final.
