be careful, don't get too excited! I have one and the bandsplit is 380-400 mhz!! I beleive it may also be available in a 403-470 mhz. You guys may want to email him to find out what bandsplit the ones he is selling are.

Hi Jullian, right now I am investigating the chances of swapping out the RF deck on it so I am hanging on to it for a while. i'll let you know if I decide to get rid of it.

According to the bandsplits listed in the other post, the most you can get out of this radio is 430 Mhz. Also, look at the guy selling it on ebay, 1 feedback and 8 radio's that got to be far below what dealer cost is on one.

They put some work into that! Why can't they make something like that for us in the US? Even just a conventional unit would be awesome.

Hi guys
the MTP200/300 is/was supplied in the UK to various police forces
for use on the 'airwave' service.
Basically a tetra service run by British telecom (under a different name) for fire/police service etc.
The radios are TETRA only, purely digital tdma.
They are in two ranges, 380-400mhz and 410-430mhz, they use a different rib box (FLN2605B I think) and cables than an xts, using both the serial port and parallel port of the pc.
Also the host pc needs a dongle (FLN 9203) attached to the parallel port to do anything other than simple talkgroup changes.
Without the tetra infrastructure, all you can make them do is direct mode, which is basically trunked talkgroups on a back to back channel. (you specify the r.f. frequency and the talkgroup i.d.)
They don't support scan in direct mode either.
There are different versions of each model, some with encryption (TEA1,TEA2) and some without.
The encryption keys can either be sent over the air or imported into the cps software
I think that they are no longer supported in the UK, being replaced with the MTP700 and MTH500.
Hope that helps, I've used them operationally and spent many hours programming them. What are they like ? I like them, they feel robust and the audio quality is excellent.
The battery life is not bad, they are only 1watt radio's though and have adaptive tx power.
There are numerous versions of the codeplug, the early ones had lots of problems with dropped calls / site affiliation etc, they were all sorted in the later versions.
Sorry if I rambled, it's been a long day and I'm really tired.
