I just had some batteries in and they are labeled as IMPRES 2.
Any idea what the difference is or what's special about IMPRES 2?

Nice, the IP68 and Submersible rating seem to be new as well as the claims of faster charging and more cycles.
Like Kit said, Gen.2 and seems to be a major update.
I like to see the 6 mo. warranty extension, Motorola must have some confidence in doing so.

I found some info on IMPRES2
Only for APX radios
Improved IP rating (for some batteries) to IP68
Improved cycles resulting in increased warranty: Capacity warrantied to 24 months, workmanship 48-months
New IMPRES2 chargers announced (note: IMPRES2 batteries are compatible with older IMPRES chargers, but should be at 3.4 or newer firmware).
New chargers charge at a higher rate (optional?) to match the higher capacity of the new batteries. Old chargers charge at 1.25 amps, new chargers at 3.0 amps.
New chargers have a USB charge port to charge accessories
Some user configuration options (MUC only)
