I haven't programmed this radio in a few years. I forgot how to open the radio in DOS.
I'm using an old laptop I thought had my Motorola files. Not there. I'm using Vista and have software and cables. I really could use all the steps I need to get the program up and running in my computer.
I really appreciate any help.

It has to run in true DOS so you need to start the computer in DOS and then look for HT1000.exe it should look like C:/HT1000.exe

Thanks FireCpt809,I've just been away from computers and programming for about 16 years. I have an iPad,but you really can't do computing with that. It's great for reading though.
Do you know anything about changing the frequency parameters of an Ht1000 or a mts2000. The ht1000 is 470.000 to 520.000. The mts2000 is 806.000 to 870.000. I once read that you can add to the frequency. Like changing the HT to 580.000.
Thanks,
LLS207.

You have two incompatible radios. Your HT1000 is just that - 470-520MHz "T" band. Your MTS 2000 is 800MHz. Two different radios.

When you say "changing frequency parameters" are you referring to programming out of band? At the very least if you are a ham, the T band HT1000 can be programmed down to the 440Mhz (70Cm ) band using the shift key method as described in the "Model Specific" info found on the main page of this site.

D119.....you misunderstood me. I know they are incompatible radios. What I am talking about is moving the parameter of each radio. Like changing 450.000 -550.000. That's what the radio is programmed for. I want to extend the 450.000 to 440.000.
So the radio would now work on 440.000 -550.000 MHz.

well NO HT1000 will go to 550.000

There is no "parameter", it's known as a bandsplit, and yes, the bandsplit can be stretched slightly, 10-20MHz max without serious degradation. But it won't go 50MHz or the 400MHz you want. An 800MHz radio won't become a UHF radio unless you swap the entire RF board with a UHF one.

Agreed. You are asking the radio to go places it's hardware cannot physically work.

Great, this is what I needed to know. These radios were in service till 2010. So I was planning to experiment with them. But after finding all this out, I will look for something else more feasible.
That's guys for the information and your time.
