Weird CDM1250 head issue

Post by n9jig »

So I have a CDM1250 that I programmed and sent to a friend. It worked fine when I shipped it out.

When he got it and connected it to a power supply the radio would give the customary double beep but the display would not light up and then the radio would double beep every few seconds. He sent it back to me since he couldn't figure out the issue.

When I got it back today it was doing that double-beep cycling thing over and over. I re-seat the head flex connector and no joy there. I replaced the head and the cable separately and together and it still did the same thing.

The only way I could get the radio to work was by using the remote head kit from another radio. With this it works just fine. I even used the flex cable from the remote head with the radio and a couple different heads with no joy there.

Any ideas? The guy really doesn't want to use it in a remote head configuration.

Resolved!

I looked at the rear accessory port. two of the pins were shorted, it appears they tried to jam in the turn-on lead.
