My agency has xts 2500 portables, will be upgrading to the APX in the next 12 months. I was curious if I'd be able to use APX accessories we purchased ahead of time on our XTS radios, i.e. Public safety mic.

No, the connectors are completely different and incompatible. Antennas are interchangeable but chargers will only work with an adapter.
