There is a FSB10717 that says do not use the PMKN4010A rear programming cable on the XPR5550 because the computer ground and the radio ground are not the same. Has anyone connected the cable shield to the radio ground wire and used the cable?

I use this cable all the time w/o grounding anything. No problems in over a year. The cable is plugged in 24/7 so I don't need to look for it when i need it. GARY
