Hello, all. So we had an APX8K that we thought was lifted from one of our vehicles maliciously so I inhibited it. Turns out it was just taken by the wrong person and not properly accounted for so all is well. Uninhibited it without issue and it is working fine except now there's no power-up tone even though everything in the CPS is selected to have one. Even tried re-writing the current operational codeplug. Any ideas? Mother /\/\ isn't open until tomorrow so I figured I'd ask here and see what ya'll thought. Thanks for your time!

Try refreshing the firmware, that may be the culprit. If not, welcome to the world of 'undocumented features'.

Just a shot in the dark, does the channel that you're powering up on have surveillance mode associated with it?

Might not have anything to do with it, but thought I'd mention it.

I've heard of this issue before. I don't know where I read it but the response from Motorola was that when inhibited the radio has a flag set in the firmware. When uninhibited the flag clears, but the one for the power-up tone is still set to be silent... and the recommended a firmware refresh as well. Though the last person I heard with this issue also said a firmware refresh didn't work either...

No kidding - I almost guarantee if enough people start noticing this "issue" Motorola will offer a flat-rate "repair" around that price to fix their own issue.

... oh and then give it another 6 months and it will be fixed in firmware...maybe...

C'mon...what do you expect for $10K?
