Hi, I picked one of this without the battery and now I have a hard time finding a battery for it (I believe it takes NNTN8287A). Does anyone has a good source (decent price too) for thin part#?
Thanks.

My friend just got one from Jeff at SANDYS. The battery cost more than the radio. Seems the sellers of these radios are neglecting to tell the buyers this. If the buyers knew, the sellers would be stuck with them. I believe the price for the battery was $140, & that was the BEST price anywhere. GARY

Thanks Gary, it is a pitty indeed that the seller was playing that game, an expensive lesson...for me at least. Do you have a link for Sandys I can use? Traveling and could not get to it through google. Greatly appreciate your help with this.

If you're not on the latest firmware (which restricts batteries the radio can use to ONLY the IS versions) a regular TRBO battery will power up the radio just fine. I use a run of the mill impres battery with no issues. The challenge is making them fit on the radio. Filing down the tabs on either side will allow the battery, with a decent amount of physical persuasion, to mate with the radio and power it up just fine.

I was in the same boat as you. The blue caught my eye and I picked one up for $75, and I was certainly not going to buy a $150 battery for it. It takes some elbow grease, and luck with firmware revision, but I've got a fully working 6580IS running with my old 6550 battery.
