I have a range 1 uhf XTL5000. I was trying to program the local military stuff in but not really sure where the control channels should go.Do they go into the OBT control channels or the OBT Astro control channels and do you have to program the RX and TX or just the control channels.http://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?sid=3856 be just a few of the local stuff in San Diego county. And hell no I do not want to TX except in the ham bands

Going to need more then that. The system you are trying to listen to is a multi state DoD trunking system. Just can't add the control channels and listen.

OK. I just wanted to listen to Camp Pendelton military police and fire and some live range comms. The rest of the radio is for ham use.

Get a scanner, that is a DOD trunking system. You can't just add the control channels and expect to listen or receive voice traffic.
