Greetings,

I have a 99ch MT1000 radio. I have programmed the RX tone. The radio will not tone squelch, its carrier rx only not matter what position the switch is in. I have done all I can in the programming and researched. I cannot seem to find anything on this problem. The switch works fine for scan.

Additionally, the RX LED does not light upon rx on any switch position.

Thank in advance for the help.

If you have access to a service monitor, verify the radio does not operate with rx PL.
If the radio is new to you, it may have been modified previously for permanent monitor, or it was sold to you broken.

I have gotten this radio used. I do not have a service monitor. I transmit with another radio on a different PL, the radio still receives and you hear the fm squelch.

Thank you

I haven't been on a MT1000 for a while, but the first one that I had, it had the same problem. I think I had to program the top switch to enable PL/DPL receive.

I have looked all over the RSS for any setting as such and any other than may disable tone squelch. I cannot seem to find anything. The scan side of the switch works fine.

Thanks

My memory came back to me. The radio did not do PL/DPL scan, only CTCSS scan. That is what I had to change. I have a bad feeling that your switch is bad.

Well, that is a big job just for that. I have a non working on apart and see how difficult it would be.

Thanks

The switch is on a flex circuit on the top panel. Use a plain old VOM to troubleshoot the switch. Brush up on your soldering skills to gently remove the flex.

A little contact cleaner in the switch MIGHT yield results as well, but your mileage may vary.

The contact cleaner did not work. I will just be ok with carrier squelch then.

Thanks all for the advice.
