I was wondering if a XTS5000 2 can be modified to a 3 by switching out the keypad and external case ? I'm sure it's not that ease like the old ASTRO Sabers were.

Sure.. but you wont have any of the numeric buttons to work. Unless you use some software magic not to be discussed
